Registration (Homeschooling)

While many people refer to all virtual and home education programs simply as "homeschooling", in British Columbia enrolling a child into a Distributed Learning (DL) home learning program is different than registering a child as a home-schooler. Most Summit Learning Centre students enrol in DL.

The main points to consider when “registering” your child in Homeschooling:

Your child's program is the responsibility of the parent or guardian;
Your child's program is directed and supervised by the parent;
Your child's program does not have to meet provincial standards;
Your child will not receive a British Columbia Dogwood graduation certificate.

Registered only students may write Grade 12 Provincial examinations at their registering school and receive a Ministry Examination mark (but not a course mark).

2011/12 Grad Planner available online!

The Grad Planner is a Ministry-produced document prepared for students entering the Graduation Program. The document outlines graduation requirements, means of getting graduation credit, and provides information about Graduation Program exams as well as funding post-secondary education. The Grad Planner also contains numerous links to websites with helpful information. The 2011/12 Grad Planner is now available on the Ministry website HERE
