Part-time Courses at Summit Learning Centre (Grades 10/11/12)
'Distributed Learning' occurs when you are learning at a distance from your teacher, whether you are at home, at school or at another learning facility. Distributed learning is funded by the Ministry of Education as a means of ensuring improved access, more choice, and flexibility to learn outside classroom schedules.
Students in Grades 10,11, and 12 are entitled to be ‘cross-enrolled’, which means that they may take one or two courses through Summit, but complete the majority of their program at their neighborhood high-school.
Courses can be taken by current students, by already graduated students or by mature students – from anywhere in BC!
Who can benefit from taking part-time/cross-enrolled courses through Summit?
- Students who need to solve a timetable conflict. Students may choose to take a required course through Summit in order to preserve the elective course they really want to take at their neighborhood school.
- Students who need to solve a workload problem. These students may opt for a course through Summit because our year round, work-at-your-own pace model fits better with the other demands on their schedule.
- Students who need to upgrade. Students who did not get a high enough mark in a certain course may choose to re-take the course through Summit, thus preserving their timetable and course selections at their neighborhood school.
- Students who need to add a course not previously selected. For example, a student in Grade 12, or already graduated, may discover that the post-secondary program they want to take requires a certain course that they did not originally put on their graduation plan.

The Grad Planner is a Ministry-produced document prepared for students entering the Graduation Program. The document outlines graduation requirements, means of getting graduation credit, and provides information about Graduation Program exams as well as funding post-secondary education.
